Northampton Film Festival

“We were born out of Northamptonshire and we think it’s the centre of the universe! The perfect place for growing film and creativity”

Becky Carrier, Festival Direct, Northampton Film Festival

About Northampton Film Festival:

Northampton Film Festival is a non‑profit organisation dedicated to celebrating local and British filmmaking. Each year, the festival brings together audiences, storytellers and industry professionals for a vibrant programme of screenings and events. Alongside the annual festival, the organisation provides year‑round opportunities for both emerging and established filmmakers across Northamptonshire.

In addition to the festival, the team operates The Creative Place on Northampton Market Square — officially the world’s smallest arts centre. This unique space was launched a year and a half ago in response to growing demand from the local creative community. Designed to connect creatives and showcase talent from across the county, it has quickly become a hub for collaboration and artistic expression.

Why West Northants?

Northampton Film Festival credits much of its success to its location. The team describes Northamptonshire as a county of “Rebels and Revolutionaries, Misfits and Mavericks, Creatives and Changemakers” — a place with a strong independent spirit and a collaborative, positive community. This environment has been instrumental in helping the festival grow and flourish.

Ongoing Growth:

Since its inception, Northampton Film Festival has expanded significantly. The Creative Place continues to thrive, and the festival itself grows each year as its reputation for high‑quality events and filmmaker support strengthens.

Looking ahead, the organisation has bold ambitions. The team aims to achieve BAFTA‑qualifying status, further raising the profile of the festival and the region. They also plan to expand their support for local filmmakers, strengthening Northamptonshire’s creative ecosystem and encouraging more investment into the county. The Creative Place will continue to play a key role in uniting the area’s creative community and retaining local talent.

The 2026 edition marks the festival’s 5th anniversary, featuring more than 80 films, alongside industry sessions and networking events for filmmakers and the wider creative community.
