The Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team is the works team of Mercedes-AMG, competing at the pinnacle of motorsport – the FIA Formula One™ World Championship. Combining elite teamwork, cutting-edge technologies and innovation, high-performance management, and exceptional driving skill, the team develops race cars capable of competing against their rivals in a high-octane environment. Based at Technology Centres in Brackley and Brixworth, the team brings together over 2,000 dedicated and determined people who design, develop, manufacture, and race the cars driven by multiple Grand Prix winner George Russell and Junior Programme graduate Kimi Antonelli.

Growth and Development:Brackley has been the home of Mercedes-AMG F1 since the three-pointed star returned to F1 with its own works team in 2010. The team operates from a state-of-the-art technology centre that covers an area of 60,000 square metres. Originally built to accommodate 350 people, the team’s campus now hosts over 1,300 team members, all united by a single goal: to win.

Why West Northants is the perfect location: West Northants is based in the heart of Motorsport Valley in the UK. It is a location filled with cutting-edge technology and innovation. The area’s rich history and contributions to the world of motorsport are known across the globe. Beyond all else, the team’s mindset revolves around the belief that performance comes from their people. Motorsport Valley attracts some of the most highly-skilled engineers and technicians in the world, and they are proud to employ many of them within their team.

Future Growth Plans: Over the next few years, the team’s site will be developed to create a parkland campus setting, with millions of pounds of investment anticipated. This expansion will include: 

  • The removal of much of the car parking that dominates the site, replaced with trees and landscaping, creating a Formula 1 campus of the future. 
  • Implementation of a covered walkway, refurbished bridge, new pedestrian and cycle bridge, and cycle hub. 
  • A new parking facility featuring a full solar array, powering their EV charging infrastructure for 64 parking bays on-site. 
  • Introduction of a three-storey marketing centre and health and wellbeing hub complete with restaurant, gym, and other facilities for team members. 

These new spaces are designed to be Net Zero in operation, powered by 100% renewable energy from onsite and purchased offsite sources. The Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team are creating a vision for success in the years ahead, driven by their unwavering commitment to excellence, and putting Brackley firmly on the global sporting map. 

The Future of the Industry:Formula 1 is set to undergo a huge technical overhaul in 2026. Brand new power units will be introduced to the sport, including a greater focus on battery power and the use of 100% sustainable fuels. This is also coupled with revised aerodynamic regulations as they enter a new era in the sport.
