Indi Local
“Northamptonshire stands out as a destination for its rich food and drink offering, independent, artisanal culture and a strong alignment with the Indi Local ethos around supporting local. The diverse range of mobile street food vendors in the area, the centralised location, and ample startup business support made West Northants the perfect base to build Indi Local.”

About Indi Local: Indi Local is a young tech startup based in West Northants. They’re on a mission to make it easier than ever to find street food trucks and local popup events with their discovery app, dubbed the “Google maps for independent popup street food”.
Launched in Northamptonshire in 2024, the Indi Local app was designed to solve a problem for an industry relatively underserved by technology: there was no dedicated or reliable way for street food businesses to advertise their popup locations. Many were relying on passing trade, word of mouth or battling social media algorithms to reach potential customers.
The Indi Local app not only allows vendors to share their popup schedules and live locations but also encourages repeat custom by notifying users when they’re trading nearby.
In the first year, over 160 food trucks and local event organisers signed up in Northamptonshire and surrounding counties, sharing over 4.4k popup events and demonstrating high demand for a solution.
Why West Northants is the perfect location: As a county, the team at Indi Local feel that Northamptonshire stands out as a destination for its rich food and drink offering, independent, artisanal culture and a strong alignment with the Indi Local ethos around supporting local. The diverse range of mobile street food vendors in the area, the centralised location, and ample startup business support (with facilities such as Vulcan Works and advisor networks) made West Northants the perfect base to build Indi Local.
Ongoing Growth: With increasing signups and usage from neighbouring counties, the startup is planning for UK-wide expansion and has a bold vision to see the platform grow beyond street food to support the wider small-business community.
At the start of summer 2025, Indi Local had introduced agency services to further support their vendors, matchmaking vendors to events, both corporate and private clients looking for street food, professionalising the industry and offering traders access to more lucrative trade opportunities.
With the growth potential in both the app and agency sides of the business, the team is investing into further software development to allow the business to automate and streamline processes as they prepare to scale.
