Enovation Consulting celebrates King’s Award win and calls on others to follow suit

Silverstone-based sustainability consultancy, Enovation Consulting, is celebrating national recognition after securing a prestigious King’s Award – and is urging other West Northants’ businesses to put themselves forward.

Enovation Consulting, which supports sports organisations to decarbonise and embed sustainable practices, has been recognised through the King’s Awards for Enterprise, highlighting both its internal commitment to sustainability and its growing international impact.

Supporting sport’s journey to net zero

Founded with a focus on motorsport, Enovation has built a reputation for delivering end-to-end sustainability support across the sporting sector. The business works with Formula One teams and event organisers to develop strategies, measure impact and embed operational change.

Its client portfolio spans Formula One teams, the World Rally Championship, Silverstone Circuit and global sporting events, with recent expansion into tennis, sailing and athletics. The company’s work ranges from carbon footprinting and lifecycle assessments through to certification and sustainability reporting.

Being based at Silverstone has played a key role in its growth. Co-location with leading motorsport organisations allows the team to collaborate closely with clients and test innovations in real-world environments.

“Part of sustainability is trialling innovation,” explained Dr Cristiana Pace, Founder and Chief Executive Officer. “Being close to our clients enables us to develop and deliver practical solutions, particularly in sectors like motorsport where performance and sustainability go hand in hand.”

“We wanted to make sure our ‘back of house’ was just as strong as the work we do for our clients, The King’s Award recognises that consistency. It’s an incredible honour. We’re still a small company, but this gives us that credibility and demonstrates to clients exactly what we’re capable of.”

Sustainability from the inside out

While Enovation is known for helping clients improve their environmental performance, its King’s Award recognition centred firmly on what it delivers as a business itself.

Since launching, the company has embedded sustainability into its own operations. It achieved B Corp certification in 2023, as well as FIA 3 Star Environmental Accreditation, and has implemented a wide range of initiatives, including measuring and reducing its carbon footprint, pursuing environmental accreditations and investing in biodiversity projects.

Equally important is its commitment to social impact. The team delivers STEM outreach programmes across the UK and internationally, inspiring young people through hands-on activities that combine engineering, sustainability and creativity.

Recent initiatives have included workshops with schools across Northamptonshire, collaborations with major motorsport partners, and even a session delivered to Girl Scouts in New York.

A milestone moment for a growing team

For a relatively young and growing business, the award marks a significant milestone.

The recognition also reflects the contribution of the wider team, past and present, who have helped shape the business since its inception.

The company previously received a King’s Award for International Trade, making this latest achievement even more significant as it continues to expand globally.

Encouraging others to apply

Despite the prestige of the awards, Enovation is keen to demystify the process and encourage more regional businesses to apply.

“It can look quite daunting at first,” Claire Waterson, Senior Business and Marketing Manager said, “but there is a huge amount of support available. Once you start the application, it becomes much more approachable.”

She emphasised that the process itself can be just as valuable as the outcome. Feedback from previous applications helped the business identify gaps, strengthen its approach and improve how it communicates its achievements.

One key learning was the importance of telling its own story.

“We were so focused on showcasing our clients’ sustainability that we weren’t talking enough about what we were doing ourselves,” she explained.

Her message to other businesses is simple: keep improving and don’t be discouraged if success doesn’t come immediately.

Looking ahead, Enovation is committed to strengthening the region’s sustainability ecosystem.

The business is working with partners including the University of Northampton to help build a local talent pipeline, addressing a current shortage of sustainability specialists outside major cities.

“There’s a huge amount of expertise here,” Dr Cristiana said. “We just need to connect it.”

For Enovation, the King’s Award recognises past achievements as well as providing a platform to inspire others.

“If you’re doing the right things, even as a small company, you can achieve this,” she added. “It’s absolutely worth going for.”
