Delivering the Digital Backbone of Global Motorsport
At Silverstone Park, Bspoke Global Networks is one of the specialist IT companies powering the technology behind the world’s biggest motorsport championships.
Founded in 2006 by Swedish IT entrepreneur Gustav Sallander, it has grown into a global leader in high‑performance connectivity, data handling and event technology – supporting the majority of Formula 1’s teams, others in MotoGP, major broadcasters such as Sky Sports F1 and hospitality operations across more than 20 countries each season.
With a 30‑strong team split between Silverstone Park and Hove – many of them former F1 engineers and technicians – BGN provides the critical network infrastructure that teams, paddock clubs, catering operations and broadcasters rely on.
Its technicians install and remove over 250km of temporary cabling every year, and the company manages two air and seven sea freights that rotate continuously through the global race calendar.
“Our job is to make sure every part of the event can communicate instantly, reliably and securely. If the technology works, nobody notices – and that’s exactly how it should be.”
George Massaro, Head of Client Services
A major part of that capability is enabling real‑time communication between team personnel in multiple locations. George added:
“Engineers trackside, at remote ops centres or back at the factory can talk and share data as if they’re sitting next to each other, even if they’re thousands of miles apart. Ultra-low latency is now fundamental to race strategy and broadcast operations.”
BGN’s versatility is often tested. When a sea freight was badly delayed in the Suez Canal, the company successfully completed a full five‑day fit out of F1 teams’ garages in just two – a turnaround that kept the event on schedule.
Working with telecommunications partner AT&T, BGN installs hardware at circuits worldwide and uses technologies such as Riverbed WAN optimisation to move vast volumes of video, voice and telemetry data with minimal delay.
For BGN, Silverstone Park is the ideal base. George added: “The heritage, the credibility, the proximity to so many F1 teams in Motorsport Valley – this is exactly where a company like ours should be.”
