Young Entrepreneur 'WooReviews' Wins Award After Turning Passion for Food into Community Success
A rising young entrepreneur from West Northants has been recognised for her creativity, determination and community spirit after winning a Young Entrepreneur Award at the prestigious annual Franklins Solicitors £50 Challenge.
WooReviews, leading a growing local food review platform, impressed judges with her entrepreneurial approach and the success of Woo Fest 2.0, a street food festival that brought together local vendors, visitors and fundraising efforts for The Lewis Foundation.
Reflecting on her achievement, she said: “It felt amazing, and I was speechless.”
WooReviews began from a simple passion for discovering and sharing great food. What started as a way to encourage other young people to try new cuisines has grown into a platform celebrating the diverse food businesses across Northamptonshire.
“I’ve always loved food. Younger me just thought it would be a great way to influence other younger people to try new food. Now we get to show all the amazing food on offer around us,” she said.
The idea for Woo Fest came after she was offered the opportunity to organise a street food festival.
“I thought, I can do this. I get to show everyone amazing food from Northampton and bring in new vendors to the town.”
The Woo Fest 2.0 event also became an opportunity to support The Lewis Foundation through the Franklins Solicitors £50 Challenge, with profits helping the local charity continue its work supporting adult cancer patients.
Recognising the importance of attracting visitors and supporting traders, she invested the challenge funding into marketing and promotion.
“Marketing is really important when it comes to food, especially street food. It made sense to get more posters and spread the word. It was our responsibility to ensure The Lewis Foundation and the vendors had enough support and customers.”
Despite exceptionally hot weather on the day, Woo Fest 2.0 attracted strong public support.
“I’m most proud that even though it was a boiling day, lots of people came to support and try new food, and that we were able to support The Lewis Foundation again,” she said.
Looking ahead, the young entrepreneur hopes to continue showcasing local food businesses through WooReviews and grow its audience even further.
“Just to keep trying new foods, showing off amazing local places and, you never know, reach 1,000 followers.”
And with the success of the second event, a Woo Fest 3.0 could be on the horizon.
“Woo Fest 3.0 will always be an option. It’s growing and we’ve proved it can work, so watch this space.”
Her success is another example of the entrepreneurial talent emerging across West Northants. Young business leaders are helping to build vibrant communities, champion local enterprises and create new opportunities, reinforcing the area’s reputation as a place where ambition is supported and innovation can thrive.
