With over 25,000 employees across 47 countries and regions, supported by a network of more than 748 global locations, Yusen Logistics is committed to connecting people, businesses, and communities to a better future every day.

A core part of that mission is understanding customers deeply, how they operate, the challenges they face, and the ambitions they want to achieve. This empathetic, strategic approach shapes every service and solution Yusen delivers.

Why West Northants:

The choice of West Northants as the home of the Sustainable Distribution Centre (SDC) was strategic and deliberate. Situated at SEGRO Logistics Park Northampton (SLPN), the location is one of the UK’s most sought‑after logistics hubs.

Key advantages include:

  • Immediate access to Junction 15 of the M1, enabling deliveries to 90% of the UK population within roughly 4 hours
  • Proximity to the new Northampton Rail Freight Interchange, unlocking faster, greener multimodal transport options
  • A setting surrounded by a 235‑acre community park, featuring footpaths, cycle routes, wetlands, new woodlands, 20km of hedgerows, and 60,000 newly planted trees

The SDC itself is a 1,191,000 sq ft shared‑user warehouse, featuring state‑of‑the‑art automation and 236,000 pallet spaces, designed to support high‑volume and high‑complexity operations.

Ongoing Growth:

Since establishing a presence in the region, Yusen Logistics has continued to expand both its operational capabilities and its customer portfolio. The company has invested significantly in infrastructure, talent, and technology to keep pace with the evolving demands of modern supply chains.

The phased opening of the new SDC at SLPN marks a significant milestone in Yusen Logistics growth trajectory. Phase one is set to go live in August 2026, followed by phase two in November 2026, phase three in April 2027, and final completion in July 2027. As one of the company’s largest and most advanced shared‑user facilities, the SDC will enhance Yusen Logistics ability to scale at pace, support customers’ expansion plans, and further strengthen its UK and European distribution networks.

Pioneering Sustainable Logistics:

The future of logistics is green, efficient, and technology‑enabled and Yusen Logistics is taking meaningful steps to lead that transformation.

The new SDC incorporates a wide range of sustainable features, including:

  • Rooftop solar panels generating renewable energy
  • Smart LED lighting systems to reduce energy usage
  • Rainwater harvesting to minimise water consumption
  • 220 electric vehicle charging stations for colleagues and visitors
  • Sustainably sourced office furniture from a UK manufacturer

These enhancements not only reduce environmental impact but also support customers in achieving their own sustainability commitments.

Future Growth Plans

Looking ahead, Yusen Logistics is committed to accelerating sustainable transformation across its operations. This includes:

  • Expanding capacity within the SDC to support a wider customer base
  • Introducing additional warehouse automation and digital optimisation tools
  • Continuing to reduce carbon emissions across transport and warehousing
  • Growing service offerings to meet the needs of emerging and established industries

These plans are supported by a long‑term vision of developing intelligent, responsible supply chains that help customers grow while contributing to a more sustainable future.
